Three and a half days of films, fun and festivities at Dharamshala
International Film Festival 2013 (DIFF 2013) concluded on high node with much appreciation accolades.
But while it lasted, what an amazing, exciting and intense event it was! From
its Opening Night, when crowds pushed down the doors of the Club House to watch
The Lunchbox, to the packed closing night screenings of Filmistaan at TIPA and
Ai Wei Wei: Never Sorry at the Club House, the festival was a kaleidoscopic
ride of movies among the mountains.
From 10 am when the doors opened until the last screenings
finished at around 9:30 pm, crowds filled the TIPA auditorium and the makeshift
Club House venue. Visitors came from across India and around the world and we
had an encouraging turnout of local moviegoers, including large groups of
college students from Dharamshala town. This year, we definitely had more
audiences than last year, which was heartening.
The highlight of the festival was definitely the presence of
the filmmakers and their introductions and Q&A sessions. The fact that all
the filmmakers who attended turned out to be an amazingly diverse and wonderful
group who all got along with each other was an added bonus! The idea of DIFF
was always to gather filmmakers in an intimate setting so that they could
interact both among themselves and with the audience. In this, DIFF 2013 built
on the great start we made last year.
