Andaaz-e-Nawab: Designer Pawan Sachdeva’s Mughal Era inspired Menswear

Designer Pawan Sachdeva has brought alive the remarkable craftsmanship of the Mughal Era in his latest Menswear collection, Andaaz-e-Nawab.  The collection will be unveiled during a fashion show this Saturday.

Andaaz-e-Nawab is all about dressing today’s men in the royal attire.  The collection has impressions of Mughal & Arabic clothing and has been twisted so creatively to fit in the taste of a modern man says Designer Pawan Sachdeva. From a very traditional attire like a Jama paired with a flared skirt to a modern avtar of a floral motif transparent cotton kurta teamed with pencil trousers and a cotton olive floral printed  Nehru jacket, Pawan’s profound design sensibilities are evident in each creation.

The collection has Jamas (tunic or coat), Angharkas, Chogas in the finest of cottons and muslins with hand embroidered floral motifs.  They are paired with trousers, flared skirts and paijamas.  To be worn with Juttis, Kolhapuris & Peshawari Sandals and embellished with a Turban, look will be as elegant and royal as the Nawabs.

Mughal artisans were famous for their creativity and experimentation and Mughal emperors like Akbar paid special attention to textiles- patterning, cuts and delicate hand work on their garments, added Pawan. Textiles flourished remarkably under the Mughals and various techniques of crinkling, dying, patterning and embroidery were explored. In my collection Andaaz-e-Nawab, I have tried to capture the elegance and flamboyance of the Mughal Era.
