Bollywood graceful actress Evelyn Sharma looked stunning in a
bright red lehenga, when she walked the ramp as a show stopper for designer duo
Falguni and Shane Peacock during the IBFW 2013. Inspired by their
travels to Monaco, Nice and the Gardens of Lake Como, Falguni and Shane Peacock
displayed their ethereal “Garden of Eden” collection at the Aamby Valley India
Bridal Fashion Week 2013.
It was a memorable and ultra-feminine journey for the
audience as the designing duo’s 2013 “Peacock Bride” label was a visual study
in colour, fabric, form and style. Bringing onto the ramp the multi hues of the
most beautiful gardens on earth, the palette revealed pistachio, pink, red,
white, ivory and gold. The fabrics selected were a perfect base starting with
net, chiffon, velvet and georgette, which were embellished with amazing floral
motifs, clumps of seductive vintage lace and the trade mark feathers that the
pair is well known for.
Opening the show with the most stunning Red Carpet gowns,
the designing duo set the mood for a superb line of bridal creations that would
please the western as well as the ethnic bride.
Gowns with seductive fish tails dazzled with gold, silver and
coloured 3D embroidery. The ombré purple sequinned gown with an attached pink
net trail, the finely moulded red creation, silver figure hugging maxi with a
feather shrug and the lace embroidered pale dusty green gown with peek-a-boo
back; gave an amazing variety to choose from.
Velvet and net were blended effortlessly, while lace and
embroidery played a magnificent symphony on the creations. The highlights of
the gowns were the visually arresting metal/silver peplum Obe-like belts at the
waist that were the cynosure of all eyes.
Moving into the ethnic section, the fusion line of kurtas
was layered generously in net with velvet bodices. From slim lean lines for
appliquéd long numbers, to voluminous frothy creations with asymmetric lines,
the kurtas dazzled on the ramp.
Bringing in a touch of the Spanish flamenco dress style, the
three red/pink/melon lace kurtas was a great Indo-Western offering. Layers of
colourful lace and tulle edged with silver and silk created a western
silhouette for kurtas. Pastels came to the forefront for long sleeved lacy
layered tubes.
When it came to the sari, the designing pair pulled out all
stops as net and velvet turned the dual fabric combo into an innovative
creative look for the 6-yard-wonder. Embellished net pleats swished with
feminine elegance, while the velvet pallavs added grace and beauty to the
drapes.
The final lehenga, choli and dupatta section was a story in
regal grandeur when the creations glided down the ramp. Starting with shades of
pink with lavish embroidery and floating feathers on the hemlines, the
ensembles teamed with sensuous cholis gleamed on the catwalk. Giant silver
tassels edged the dupattas adding more excitement to the creations.
The three sindoor-red lehengas with magnificent embroidery
worn with corset, bustier or tiny choli were a perfect offering as Falguni and
Shane ensured that the bride’s big day will be one she will remember
forever.Giving the final touch to the collection the designers had Bollywood
star Evelyn Sharma sashing on the catwalk in a bright red lehenga encrusted
with gold, teamed with a sexy matching velvet choli and pink net dupatta.
From Red Carpet evening gowns to the swirling ghagras,
Anarkalis, farshi pyjamas, kalidaar saris and bridal creations, Falguni and
Shane Peacock proved that they can create magic for the bride with their
“Garden of Eden” collection, whether she chooses to walk down the aisle or
around the sacred Agni.
