Famous hair stylist Isis Brantley as Guest Speaker at Black History Month Fashion Show

Master natural hair stylist and recent recipient of the “Nzuri 100 Carat Diamond Award”, Isis Brantley, will be guest speaker at the Black History Month Benefits fashion show on February 23, 2014 in Houston Texas.  Hosted by EZCall EZTalk, the event will be held at the Wyndham Hotel, Houston.  Brantley has been a practitioner of natural hair care in the African-American community for over 30 years. She is also the brainchild of the annual Naturally Isis Hair Parade and Festival with celebrity songstress Erykah Badu as the Grand Marshall.

As an iconic adorner and educator in the beauty industry, Isis has maintained a presence in her community. She has also been actively involved in preserving cultural identity for African Americans via her decade long battle with the State of Texas regarding anti-braiding regulations.   Isis was ‘grandfathered’ in 2007 by the State of Texas and received the prestigious noted honor of being the first natural hair care expert in Texas.

A Dallas native and mother of five, Isis Brantley is known nationwide as Naturally Isis, the guru of Natural Hair Care. Stylist to many clients across the country including celebrity neo soul artist Erykah Badu, Isis is deeply involved in building and expanding her business, with the promotion of her hair care products appropriately donned, Sisters of Isis, and the upcoming release of three books: Hair Once Sacred, Now Desecrated, Braid Raid, and Olayinka’s Magic Beaded Comb.

The Black History Month fashion show will feature designs by fashion designer Philetta K. Phillips who will debut her 2014 African inspired clothing Line "The Cross Over" incorporating designs ranging from elaborate evening gowns to fun casual wear. For a taste of bridal couture, TeKay Designs: Queen Of The Brides will also showcase select bridal gowns representing queens and women of power from various countries around the world. Music will be provided by a DJ and cultural dancers will entertain guests at the event. Doors open at 6:30 pm CT. Regular admission is $25 and Patron admission is $50. Thirty percent of proceeds from the event will be distributed among The Liberian Association of Greater Houston, Ward Educational Fund and a renowned cancer organization in the US.
