Sankaradeva Movement started out as an ambitious attempt to
promote the ideals of the 15th century saint Sankaradeva and to propagate the
culture of Assam across India. The Third edition of the movement, which is
promoted by Trend MMS, the reputed Socio Cultural Trust of Assam, was held in
Mumbai today in collaboration with NCPA, well known for promoting Art and

Sankaradeva, the greatest Assamese of all time was a versatile personality - a
saint, poet, dramatist, actor, sculptor, painter and most importantly a social
engineer who united the heterogeneous society of Assam. However, we felt that the multifaceted genius
hasn’t got his recognition outside Assam, hence the need for a movement such as
this. We have been really overwhelmed by the kind of response we have received
in Mumbai – it really has been unprecedented and much more than the previous
editions.”
