Festival of Hope is a platform to create awareness about all
types of cancer through various fashion events. We will host the fourth edition
of ‘Festival of Hope’, in association with the Indian Cancer Society,
showcasing fashions from select designers on models who are cancer survivors.
It is a fund raising event where people from all walks of
life, walk the ramp, along with cancer survivors, to celebrate their courage
and spirit of battling cancer. It gives an opportunity to also applaud the men
who have stood tall and strong for the women they love when cancer strikes a
female loved one. Walking with them will be a few people who are celebrating
the spirit and courage of these role models.The fund collected through this event
contribute to the research and development teams of Indian cancer society.
According to Indira Jasuja, a cancer survivor told that six
women cancer survivors will walk the ramp this year. "These women were
diagnosed with cancer and after treatment are now healthy. I too lost my
husband to cancer.
This year we hope to be able to fund a research grant to
award to a deserving breast cancer researcher working on access to care issues
via the Indian Cancer Society.
Festival of hope has already seen 3 editions which was
successfully hosted and produced by Shalini vig Wadhwa. She said "It's
been a wonderful three years journey and I'm extremely pleased and satisfied
with the outcome. We have successfully achieved to create cancer awareness in
most of Delhi & NCR via Festival of Hope. Every year we touch more than a
thousand families who come together to celebrate the spirit of cancer
survivors. They also learn to be alert for any early symptoms and are aware of
various treatments available to cute Cancer."
The fashion show will be choreographed by Bollywood fashion
director and choreographer Kaushik Ghosh. He will groom all the participants
for the event with help of VLCC.
Names of participating designers include few new age and
some well known in the industry Annaikka by Kanika Saluja, Pawan Sachdevaa, Ritu
Pande, Nimirta by Nimirta Lalwani,debut collection by Farheen Prabhakar, Varija Bajaj in
the ethnic Bridal segment and Chhaya Mehrotra.
On this occasion, designer Varija Bajaj Said, "It is a
brilliant effort to create awareness for cancer through festival of hope and I
am only proud to be a part of such noble cause".
According to designer Kanika Saluja,"Festival of Hope
is an innovative and unique concept to create awareness and applaud women who has overcome a disease like cancer
and become more positive towards life than never before."
Designer Chhaya Mehrotra said" I found this concept
very interesting, raising fund through
fashion show for the development and research of cancer in India. It also gives
an opportunity to cancer survivors to look ahead and live a life beyond
cancers."
Those who will be walking the ramp include socialites of
Delhi NCR, bollywood actors, sports persons etc. To name a few are cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, Writer Alexandra
Venus Bakshi, Make-over expert Aashmeen Munjaal, actor, model and 1976 Miss India winner Naina Balsavar and
Novelist and author Ira Trivedi and many others. Two days grooming sessions
were held for the participants at Club Aralias, DLF Phase -5.
