The most awaited fashion extravaganza of India, ‘Wills
Lifestyle Fashion Week Spring Summer 2014’ finally kick started at Pragati
Maidan in Delhi with the showcase of designer Anupama Dayal’s fairy collection which
left the spectators mesmerized.
The melting pot of Anupama's electric inspirations created
an inspiring and cultural collection of fetishistic fashion, attaching to us
the roots of India and at the same time making us international urban nomads.
Anupamaa's collection was just like a revival of the
ancient, almost forgotten hand printing and needle craft techniques of India. Her
style is vintage meets bold and western.
The print stories of Anupamaa's style were electric and she
utilized one of her favourite techniques in her collection, which were the
ancient hand printing technique using wooden blocks to leave the spectators
ablaze. The wooden blocks are hand carved based on Anupamaa's hand drawn
sketches. The blocks are then dipped into dyes and placed on pure fabrics like
silk and cotton.
The craft of mixing and cooking colours was the most crucial
part of the printing process of Anupamaa's collection.
