It was high time for designer Dev r Nil, when he proudly
presented his latest collection on the second day of ongoing Wills Lifestyle
India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 leaving the spectators stunned.
The collection entitled ‘Breaking Free’ was created by the designers
especially for women who loves a sense of freedom in their wearing. The
collection included - silhouettes, saris, jackets and palazzos.
Ikkats weaves were constructed inspired from the Emperor
butterfly colour scheme and embroidered doilies which were converted to prints
where the flow of print to embroidery became fluid to create the interesting mesh of textures.
In keeping with the classics the silhouettes were an
interesting mix of fluid and structures. Cropped tops or jackets with fluid printed skirts or
palazzos, sarees with bolero jackets and classic cut jackets and bandhgala
waistcoats for men.
The colour palette in the collection moved away from the
obvious serene to the unpredictable. The collection threw up pop colours like
coral, burnt yellows, mints and nudes underplayed by black, slate and greys.
“The collection is an ode to the vintage. The power of 60s n
70s that still hypnotizes us as we want to break free from the clichés and the
censorship of the modern times. Flower
power and the art movement inspired us to create a textured neo feminine mod
collection. The power of the mind and the vulnerability of the heart get
reflected in this bold yet feminine line,” said Dev r Nil.
