The younger the designer, the more hungry and ambitious they
are to make it big in the fashion industry. Unfortunately a lot of customers
prefer established and veteran designers over new talent, making it hard for
new talent to break through.
It is a well known fact that young designers are hungry for
recognition, innovation and improvement. The Indian Federation for Fashion
Development (IFFD) provides a platform for these designers and aims to discover
new talent, giving them a chance to enter the fashion industry and present
themselves to a great audience. India Runway week is an unique initiative to
promote such young designers which was held from 29th August to 1st September
2013 in New Delhi.
India Runway Week is a new platform that showcases
tomorrow’s designers today. Fresh designer talent hit the runway to present
their latest collections. India Runway Week from the 30th of August until the

buyers, retailers and consumers.
Kiran Kheva, Co Founder and Director of IFFD, adds: “IRW is
a very unique fashion event which is bringing a lot of designers from different
reigns and backgrounds together. There are so many Indian designers out there
that I did not even know existed, so I'm interested to showcase their work to
the world. It's opening my eyes to new ideas, to see how designers have
interpreted Indian culture into their designs. We finally get to celebrate
their work during this special event!"
Referring to the development of the idea behind IFFD, the
director duo says: “The idea to establish IFFD was to give these young people a
chance to nurture their talents and encourage their growth by giving them a
chance to make connections, find buyers and rediscover themselves as artists.
We can easily connect with these designers because we are also young and try to
make our voices heard. We can imagine how difficult it must be for these
aspirants to find their foothold in a sector that is already filled with many
amazing designers. Nonetheless, they shouldn't stop trying and neither will
we.”Don’t underestimate these young designers, after all they are the veteran
designers of the future!
