Prachi Mehta from Delhi was emerged as the winner of ‘Benadryl
BIG Golden Voice’ contest organized by 92.7 BIG FM, India’s No. 1 radio network
to explore new singing talents. The unique and first-of-its-kind radio-based
talent hunt was organised across the network’s 45 stations and witnessed
participation from thousands of aspiring singers. Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the
Golden Voice of Bollywood, judged the final round and chose Prachi from eleven
shortlisted participants, as the ‘Benadryl BIG Golden Voice’ of the country.
The genres of classical, semi-classical and light music that
include ghazal and folk are 23-year-old singer’s strengths. She started
learning music at a tender age of four at the well known Pandit Shambhu Maharaj
Kathak Academy in Delhi, participating in numerous singing competitions over
the years, and winning accolades for the same. While studying at Lady Shri Ram
College, Prachi took part in almost all major singing competitions at college
festivals around the country. At Benadryl BIG Golden Voice, her first reality
singing show, she beat talented singers from all over India.
As a winner, Prachi made an outstanding stage debut at New
Delhi’s Dilli Haat, Pitampura on Sunday 15th September 2013, performing some of
the most beautiful songs and charming an audience of over a thousand people
with her melodious voice. The fantastic opportunity came Prachi’s way as 92.7
BIG FM partnered with ‘Dilli Singing Star’, bringing together the capital’s
finest singing talent to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and educate people
about the symptoms, causes and prevention of the pandemic.
Singing live and like a true star as she made her stage
debut, Prachi’s spellbinding performance drew a packed house and endless praise
from New Delhi’s discerning music-loving fraternity. Singing an assortment of
perfectly chosen songs ranging from good old dance numbers to soulful melodies,
the repertoire included hits such as ‘Paan Khaaye Saiyaan Hamaar’ among others.
92.7 BIG FM’s well known RJ Deepak ably backed Prachi’s
performance with an engaging quiz, distributing movie tickets and vouchers as
audiences enjoyed the evening of music and song.
Speaking about winning Benadryl BIG Golden Voice, Prachi

Voice has been my biggest achievement and the best thing to have happened to
me! I feel all my years of learning music are finally bearing fruit.
Participating was a wonderful experience and I have learnt a lot through the
reality singing show. The competition was not easy since most contestants had
very good voices and a strong background in music. I think my versatility was
an important ingredient and something that is my strength. I am thankful to

talent.”
