Art and its beauty had inspired Anushka Khanna for her last
collection, so it was little wonder that for her Lakmé Fashion Week
Winter/Festive 2013 line the theme revolved around photographer, Hashim
Badami’s images. The well-known photographer’s pictures brought a refined look
to Anushka’s prints and surface textures.
For that very unconventional approach to embellishments,
Anushka used geometry while she translated Badami’s photographs into digital
prints. The colours that revolved around the one-of-a-kind prints were muted
navy, grey, black and white with leather appliqués added to her embroidery,
which followed the graphic shapes.
There was shimmer and shine for the line of cocktail wear that opened with a long navy sweater dress followed by strappy mini, with hot pants, layered maxi tube in knit/chiffon, glittering gilets, leggings and the bead work gown for added glamour. The checked one button blazer worn with a mini also worked the glitter into its silhouette, while short cropped tops, long pencil skirts, grey floor length glitzy kurta and churidars gave the line a definite sexy yet sophisticated touch.
Going for classic silhouettes and intricate embellishments, Anushka Khanna presented an Avant Garde collection that will intrigue and excite women who choose rare designing and styling options.
