The ‘Samor’ label by the mother and daughter duo, Pragya and
Megha Samor presented their glamorous collection at Lakmé Fashion Week
Winter/Festive 2013. Inspired by the extinct exotic birds, the garments spoke a
sensuous language of fabrics and prints as well as vibrant colours, drapes and
cuts, which were a hallmark of the ensembles while surface texturing
highlighted the construction.
Colours moved from candy hues of mint green, lemon yellow,
Parma violet, pretty peach to pink along with black and white. Multi panelled
hems and luxurious drapes were splashed with digital prints and innovative
embroidery inspired from the designer’s paintings.
From a circular silk high waist skirt with multi-coloured
embroidered birds, green satin Lycra top and black georgette shrug; the show
moved on to reveal chiffon/satin Lycra swimsuit dress with brown leather straps
and zipper detailing. Digital prints were a constant, featuring more birds and
the double circular skirt with peacock embroidered flying species was a great
semi-formal creation.
Adding a jungle birds printed Anarkali with a wide circular
skirts with lots of embroidery, the collection offered a variety of silhouettes
and outfits. A solitary sari with printed swirls and embellished choli, the
designers offered the ethnic dresser an option. The finale was a black satin
Lycra and net dress with florescent ribbon on a never ending trail with tiny
fairy lights circling around the model’s body which was definitely a very
striking end to the show.
Experimenting with construction, Pragya and Megha Samor’s
label allowed their imagination to blossom on the ramp with a fabulous feminine
line.
