Like the legendary Phoenix that rose again in all its glory,
Kommal Sood’s “Phoenix in Paradise” collection was a glamorous assortment of
elegant chic, which dazzled on the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Fashion
2013.
Known for her ultra-stylish signature creations of
sophisticated formal wear that have made stunning appearances on the Red
Carpet, the look displayed by Kommal had an edgy line of separates that started
with casual skirts, shorts and tops, then moved onto classy jackets, cocktail
dresses and finally ended in stunning gowns. The colours remained true to the
flaming fiery hues of the Phoenix that gave the fabrics, embellishments and
sequin sheeting embroidery that breath-taking appeal.
From the opening entry of an orange satin long sleeve mini
with sequined skirt, the show was filled with glitter, glitz and glamour of a
very high order. Dhoti pants were teamed with ornate boleros, satin waist coat
with peek-a-boo back, pencil slim knee length skirts, slashed sleeve cape over
shorts, taffeta coat midi, red/black lined jacket dress and the asymmetry hem
creation with red lining were stunners.
The gowns were definitely meant for a glamorous carpet
appearance, when the trio of gold tassel mini, black gown with gold shrug while
one with kerchief hem and embroidered bodice stopped the show.
The four men’s wear entries revolved around a beige stylish
bundgala jacket, a short trench coat, maroon jacket waistcoat slim trousers
trio and a black sherwani coat for formal wear.
The “Phoenix in Paradise” collection by Kommal Sood is aimed
at the daring, stylish, bold woman and man who have an adventurous Avant Garde
dress sense.
