Urvashi Kaur’s Collection ‘SEMAH’ stuns the spectators at WIFW SS 2014 Day 1

Ace designer Urvashi Kaur stunned the spectators with her marvelous collection entitled ‘SEMAH’on the 1st day of Wills lifestyle fashion week Spring /Summer 2014, which epitomized the  state of trance in harmony with nature and all its elements. The Collection seemed to celebrate the three unified states of human nature- the mind (as knowledge and thought), the heart (through the expression of feelings, poetry and music), and the body (by activating life, by turning).

The organic feel was highlighted by a restrained palette of colors encompassing natural dyes like indigo, reds, greys, ochre, and ecru.

The silhouettes were brought to life with the use of indigenous hand-woven organic textiles from Kutch and Andhra. Sheer cotton weaves like Kota , mulmul, chanderi and linen lend fluidity to the collection.
Engineered placements of twisted tie/dye technique evoked the 'Bandhej'. Mosaic styled geometric patterns derived by block prints paired with rouching/pleating technique along with versatile separates with touches of volume and movement in drapes set a dramatic rhythm.

Tunics with asymmetric folds and hemlines, angarkha inspried Djellabas and long voluminous tops and dresses were the mainstay of the collection. Peplum vests, wrap jumpsuits along with cowelled shalwars, farsi pajamas and pleated shararas confirm to the mystical vibe.
